Pent Up is a four-mallet etude that was written for one of my percussion students. This piece examines a number of techniques that are crucial for the beginning four-mallet player including: single independent strokes with outside mallets, rolls with all four mallets as well as with the inside mallets only, the classic 1-2-3-4 permutation and more.
